Caritas Indonesia (Karina Foundation) is a humanitarian service organization which belongs to Indonesian Bishops’ Conference (KWI) that serves 37 dioceses across the country. One of Karina’s programs focuses on education to support educational facilities, scholarship, support for honorary teachers, human resource development, governance and education resilience.
The Education Support Program was developed by Caritas Indonesia and in collaboration with Socio-Economic Development Commission of the Indonesian Bishops’ Conference (PSE KWI) and implemented by KOMDIK KWI, as a concrete manifestation in the presence of Indonesian Catholic Church during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The Education Support Program distributed accross Indonesia through 27 dioceses of total 37 dioceses in Indonesia. These 27 dioceses are as follow:
Since July 2020, Caritas Indonesia had distributed:
IDR 1,249,500,000 for 1,505 teachers / staffs, in 291 schools.
However, the funds needed are still insufficient. The continuation of this program will be challenging, if we only rely on APP funds in PSE KWI and Caritas Indonesia. As an additional information, fee for a Honorary Teacher is in between IDR 750.000 to IDR 1.000.000 per month/person.
Therefore, Caritas Indonesia, PSE KWI, KOMDIK KWI, LDD KAJ, with continuous support from the Indonesian Jesuit Alumni Association (AAJI), organized a fundraising event which carried out “CARITAS CHRISTMAS CROSS CHALLENGE 2020 (4C)” theme, with the involvement of 37 dioceses in Indonesia.
AAJI act as Owner of the Event and will organize the virtual event which targeted up to 1,000 participants. Apart from AAJI members, which include alumni of 8 Jesuit Colleges and 1 University, associate schools, as well as with the support of the Bishops, Pastors, Brothers, Sisters, and seminarians is very optimist on the event’s success rate.
Terima kasih dan Tuhan Memberkati kita semua,
